Among the upcoming developments are a smart home doorbell equipped with Face ID and new health features for AirPods. The Face ID-enabled smart doorbell is still in its early development stages. This device aims to streamline home security and convenience by using Face ID, the same facial recognition technology found in iPhones and iPads, to unlock doors. The doorbell will wirelessly connect to compatible deadbolt locks, potentially working with third-party HomeKit-supported systems. Apple may also consider collaborating with a brand to deliver an all-in-one solution. According to Gurman, the earliest possible launch for this product is 2026. Apple is also rumored to be working on a new smart home display reminiscent of the iMac G4, further expanding its smart home ecosystem.

In addition to advancements in smart home products, Apple is reportedly enhancing the health capabilities of its AirPods. Future AirPods models, possibly the AirPods Pro 3, are expected to feature heart rate monitoring and temperature sensing. Apple Increases iCloud+ Prices in Multiple Countries

Apple has raised the prices of its iCloud+ storage plans in several countries, including Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt, Tanzania, and the Philippines. This price increase, which affects various storage tiers of the iCloud+ subscription, follows the decline in local currencies against the U.S. dollar in many of these countries in recent years.

For example, in Japan, the price increase has been around 15%. However, the prices for iCloud+ in the United States have not changed this year. The iCloud+ service, which offers users extra storage beyond the 5GB of free iCloud space, remains unchanged in the U.S.

iCloud+ plans include several features such as iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and Custom Email Domain. The plans also support HomeKit Secure Video, allowing users to store footage from security cameras in iCloud. The available storage tiers include:

50GB iCloud+ plan: Includes features like iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, Custom Email Domain, and HomeKit Secure Video support for one camera.
200GB iCloud+ plan: Includes the same features as the 50GB plan but adds HomeKit Secure Video support for up to five cameras.
2TB, 6TB, or 12TB iCloud+ plans: These higher-tier plans offer HomeKit Secure Video support for an unlimited number of cameras, along with the same other features.

These price hikes reflect the challenges posed by local currency fluctuations, but Apple has yet to announce any changes to pricing in other regions.

Apple has officially launched the 2024 MacBook Pro, now powered by the advanced M4 chip. Available for preorder, this new MacBook Pro is part of Apple’s refreshed lineup, joining the iMac and Mac mini in adopting M4 processors. 14” or 16” MacBook Pro with M4 Pro: Designed for professional work such as graphic design, engineering, and data modeling, this version includes a 14-core CPU and up to a 20-core GPU. The M4 Pro also enhances AI-driven tasks, structural engineering, and geospatial applications. Priced from $1,999.
14” or 16” MacBook Pro with M4 Max: Built for the most demanding tasks, this model targets users in animation, large language model development, and other intensive workflows. Featuring up to a 16-core CPU, 40-core GPU, and a memory bandwidth of over half a terabyte per second, it’s optimized for high-performance needs. It includes Apple’s Media Engine for 4K/120 FPS video processing and starts at $2,499.

Apple has also introduced updated MacBook Air models, now available with M2 and M3 chips and a doubled starting memory of 16GB, beginning at $999.

The 2024 MacBook Pro models offer improved display and AI functionality, incorporating Apple’s nano-texture screen for visibility in bright environments, along with a 12MP Center Stage camera. The new “Center Stage” and “Desk View” modes allow users to display both their face and workspace simultaneously, catering to content creation needs.

Battery life has been extended to an estimated 24 hours, with performance gains aiding tasks like photo editing and animation rendering.
